Having once been burned one tries to avoid the fire. . .
Way back in '03. . . as I struggled along *trying* to create the PL
pages. . . I discovered that some of the PL selections were "ideas"
rather than specific programs. The people who had nominated those PL
selections were not available => clarification of their intent was not
possible and some "selections" had to be thrown out.
and. . .
Way back in '04. . . in my first year as "point person". . . there
were nominations of $ware (without a LFW version), followed by: "Well,
it was free the last time I looked."
The "file name, version info" requirement is there to prevent a repeat
of such problems. . .
FWIW I think a *lot* of people vote for apps based on the version they
are USING - which may not bear much resemblance to the version that's
actually nominated.
